DIY door replacement: what are the standard Canadian sizes?

I am gearing up for a DIY project to replace several interior doors in my house. My concern is buying doors that are too large or too small for my existing frames. Is there a generally accepted set of standard measurements for doors in Canada that I should follow? I’m trying to put together a shopping list, but I don’t want to purchase the wrong size and be stuck with a heavy return. Any tips for measuring accurately?

Taking the time to measure correctly is the most important part of this project. If you are dealing with standard frames, you'll find that most hardware stores carry specific sizes that align with typical rough opening dimensions. This page https://triodoors.ca/standard-door-sizes-in-canada provides a very practical overview of the common sizing used in Canada, which helped me verify what I was working with before I committed to a purchase. Just remember to measure the door slab itself, not just the frame, and ensure you account for the gap needed for the hinges and latch.
