BEST MICROSOFT SURFACE: The Microsoft Surface Pro 8 Touch Screen Intel Core i5 (8GB RAM, 128GB SSD), 13-inch(Opens in a new tab), is an optimal laptop and tablet. $699.99 $1099.99 (save $400)

Winter sales always mean discounts on the things that matter. This is a great time to upgrade your laptop if you've been mulling it over. From a touch screen(Opens in a new tab) to a Surface Pro(Opens in a new tab), there's a Windows laptop on sale for everyone.

Creators rejoice! You can touch, glide, and tap the screen to take advantage of the Lenovo Yoga's(Opens in a new tab) features, allowing you to design or move items with ease. Featuring 8GB RAM and 256 GB SSD, you can breeze through photo editing, streaming, and office or school projects. This sleek laptop is equipped with an AMD Radeon graphics card, 1920 x 1200 WUXGA resolution, and displays images in full HD. This touch-screen laptop also folds and flips easily so you can set it up just the way you need.

At a discount of $400, the Microsoft Surface Pro 8 (Opens in a new tab)is a fantastic find for people who need both a tablet and a laptop. Its PixelSense Flow display delivers crisp images at 2880 x 1920 resolution for all of your viewing needs. Need to see your family, friends, or colleagues during calls? The Surface Prop 8 includes a 5.0MP built-in camera that also adjusts to lighting conditions so everyone can see you in your best light.

However, the only version of the Dell XPS 13 you are likely to find in pink is the older 7390, which is the one we link here. It comes with an older gen Intel Core i7-10710U CPU, but it does however have the advantage of a 4K/UHD screen for relatively cheap. The colors, contrast, and brightness on this display are all top notch.

There is a distinct lack of what we would consider pink gaming laptops available to buy on the current market, with one exception: the Razer Blade 14 QHD 165Hz, complete with a powerful GeForce RTX 3070 Ti (you can also pick it up from Amazon if stocks run out on the Razer store).

Built around a 24-inch 4.5K Retina display, the current iMac is impressively slim thanks to the highly integrated design of the M1 SoC (system-on-chip), with the screen panel measuring just 11.5mm thick. The entry-level configuration comes in four colors (blue, green, pink and silver), while the more expensive models (with an 8-core GPU) add yellow, orange and purple to the palette.

Most Chrome OS devices are laptops or 2-in-1s, but HP offers an intriguing alternative in the Chromebase All-in-One 22, whose standout feature is a 21.5-inch touch screen that can pivot from standard landscape mode into upright portrait orientation.

Many Chromebook keyboards are merely serviceable, and others feel stubborn, mushy, and unpleasant to type on. But the backlit keys on the Flex 5i offer deeper travel than those of many laptops and are comfortable to use. The trackpad, like most Chromebook trackpads nowadays, is accurate and reliable.

The keyboard on the Acer Chromebook Spin 314 (CP314-1HN-P138) felt rattly and cheap. This laptop is heavy compared with our top pick, too, and during our tests its processor struggled with a video call and a document open at the same time.

The Apple iPad is a fine tablet for classroom use, but good luck finding an iPad plus keyboard cover with the $239 price tag of Dell's Chromebook 11 (3100) laptop. For that matter, good luck finding an iPad that's built to take the abuse this sturdy 11.6-inch system can, thanks to a textured black plastic chassis with rubber bumpers and recessed ports rated to withstand a 30-inch drop onto a steel surface. Dell adds that the keyboard can shake off 12 ounces of spilled liquid, too.

Obviously there are faster and fancier Chromebooks with bigger, better screens (the Dell's 1,366-by-768-pixel resolution isn't much). But the 3100's rugged construction and low cost make it a splendid pick as a child's first laptop.

A 2-in-1 Chromebook convertible that flips between laptop and tablet modes for just a bit over 300 bucks? Now that we've got your attention, let us add that HP's Chromebook x360 14a has a 14-inch instead of squinty 11.6-inch screen (although it has the low 1,366-by-768 resolution of smaller models) and offers snappy performance in a handsome 3.3-pound package. Three USB ports (two Type-C and one Type-A) and a comfortable keyboard round out its attractions.

We can't say it better than our reviewer did: The IdeaPad Duet 3 Chromebook is "a great option to consider if you're in the market for a smart little tablet that doubles as a laptop." Students especially should find it a handy grab-and-go accessory.

The Asus CM3 is a clever, affordable iPad alternative for conferencing, pen-based apps, and keyboard productivity. Like all detachables, it's happier on a desk than in your lap when propped up with the kickstand in laptop mode, but it'll serve a variety of students' needs.

Big-screen convertibles are always overweight for tablet use, but that and a punk webcam are the only things about the Asus we don't like. It's a well-equipped, value-priced alternative to a low-end to midrange Windows laptop for older kids.

At around $400, Lenovo's Flex 5 2-in-1 is neither a budget-first nor fancy-schmancy Chromebook, but it does a great job of playing the Goldilocks role: not too cheap, not too costly, not too heavy (under three pounds), not too sluggish (it has an Intel Core i3 CPU and lasted almost 14 hours in our battery test). It flips deftly between laptop and tablet modes and works beautifully with Lenovo's optional digital pen, with a snappy backlit keyboard for when you'd rather type than write longhand.

Gaming Chromebooks are still relatively new, but that may not stop your kids from wanting one. Though very different from a traditional gaming laptop, gaming models like the Acer Chromebook 516 GE still owe their gaming chops to better-than-average hardware and a reliable internet connection. And in the case of the Acer, that makes this one of the best Chromebooks around, adding cool features like an RGB keyboard and a free trial of popular cloud game streaming services from Nvidia and Amazon. The design is excellent, the performance is among the best we've seen, and the feature set is surprisingly premium given the price.

If your kids want a gaming laptop rather than a lightweight Chromebook, this may be a good compromise. You'll still need to buy the games, along with any subscription for a cloud gaming service. Regardless, the Acer Chromebook 516 GE is a high-end Chromebook that's not astronomically expensive.

The best touchscreen laptops have responsive, accurate screens that make swiping and tapping your way through work or play feel natural and intuitive. They also have bright, vibrant displays, and are often mounted on a 360-degree hinge that lets them flip over to use as tablets.

In addition to all of the above, touchscreen laptops have improved by leaps and bounds in recent years as PC operating systems have been refined for touch input. While you won't find any Macs with touchscreens (though we hear MacBooks with touchscreens may debut as soon as 2025), Windows 11 and ChromeOS are both very usable with nothing but your fingers.

The Samsung Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 ($1,249 to start) is an ultra-thin 2-in-1 laptop that's tailor-made for people who are always on the go. Like last year's Samsung Galaxy Book Pro 360, this iteration features a gorgeous AMOLED screen that's perfect for media consumption. It's also ideal for work thanks to its speedy performance.

Though a Windows laptop at its core, the Samsung Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 comes loaded with a slew of Samsung software. This could be good or bad, depending on how invested you are in the Samsung ecosystem. If you are, then you'll find that this 2-in-1 pairs nicely with your Samsung tablets and phones. Otherwise, all of these applications are effectively bloatware.

Despite the middling webcam and Samsung bloatware, the Samsung Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 has a lot going for it and is a 2-in-1 we highly recommend to those who are in the market for a powerful, portable laptop that pairs nicely with Samsung devices.

However, it's a bit pricey when you kit it out, and despite its great components, the Surface Laptop Studio delivers subpar performance compared to similarly-priced machines. But few other laptops can match its intriguing sliding hinged display, which can be tented over the keys like an easel or slid all the way flat to turn the Studio into a heavy tablet.

If you're looking for a premium Windows touchscreen laptop to get work done from anywhere, the Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 is the way to go. It has a nice responsive touchscreen and a comfy keyboard with well-sized, satisfying keys. Plus, it packs competent components into a thin, light chassis, and it comes with a clean bloatware-free Windows 10 install.

Add in its respectable 10-plus hour battery life and the touchscreen's tall 3:2 display ratio, which can help you read and edit documents more comfortably, and you have a great notebook for getting things done on the go. The speakers are pretty good, too; in fact, this is one of the best-sounding laptops around.

The Asus ZenBook Duo 14 is great for anyone who needs two touchscreens on their laptop, because Asus has embedded a 12-inch touchscreen above the keyboard. It might seem like a gimmick, but in our hands-on testing we found it's actually a great home for secondary applications like as Spotify, Slack, Discord and more. It can also be used by creative apps from the likes of Adobe, who put touch controls there.

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Nano is one of the best touchscreen laptops when weight is key, because it manages to pack highly performant components into a slim, 2-pound chassis. The touchscreen feels comfortable to use, as does the snappy keyboard, and its 12-hour battery life (based on our in-house battery testing) helps you carry it all day without worrying about bringing a charger. 041b061a72
